Haati Recommends
It may not come as a surprise to you that we are trading more goods and services than ever before. The Washington International Trade Association says that since 1983, global goods exports have risen dramatically from $1.8 trillion to $18.4 trillion. And while trade has moved beyond finished goods, all this development has done very little for worker safety. Jobs and wages continue to hang in the balance as trade increases rapidly. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to ensure certification for the product and safety for the worker? There is!
Fairtrade is a certification system that is 50% governed by producers. It is a model of trade that ensures better prices, decent working conditions, no child labour, sound environmental practices, and strong business relationships. While farmers and agricultural workers are central to Fairtrade, the certification has extended itself across sectors.
#HaatiRecommends making the shift to Fairtrade products, wherever possible. It ensures that the product reaching you is ethically sourced, produced and packaged. Moreover, the worker is compensated fairly. Fairtrade’s trademarks are registered in over 170 countries including India.
