Did you know that out of the total water available on Earth only 2.5% is freshwater and only a minute 0.3% of it is in liquid form. Terrifying isn't it!?

Today in Haati Recommends we bring to you another common but crucial topic i.e. Water Sustainability.

Water sustainability refers to the maintenance and availability of clean and usable water that can fulfill the needs of future generations as it is fulfilling ours. Water is at the core of the Sustainable movement and is extremely critical for socio economic development, healthy ecosystems and human survival.

The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 birthed the concept of Sustainable goal number 6 that is water conservation! According to it, water conservation goes beyond drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, to also address the quality and sustainability of water resources which are critical to the survival of people and the planet.

Some important methods of water conservation are given below which we already know but we need to try harder to achieve them: -

1. Reducing the length of showers.

2. Instead of leaving the tap turned on, using a glass of water while brushing can save tons of water.

3. Having a regular checkup for leaks in pipes to avoid water wastage.

4. Putting an object in a toilet tank to reduce the amount of Water used when flushing.

5. Filling the washing machine with the right amount of water based on the load of the washing machine.

6. Spreading awareness, educating children and making mindful choices in daily life.

Water- rightly associated with Life is at the brink of extinction, we must preserve it at all costs.
